When it comes to sweet foods one cannot resist the temptation of savouring such delicacies. People in the older times seldom had the abundant choices in sweet alternatives which the people at our times have. This exponential rise in sweet savouries has been attributed to the rise in alternative artificial sweeteners that are available in market today.
Some of the notable ones are HFCS ( High Fructose corn syrup), Aspartame , Agave nectar etc. Since we all need an optimal requirement of glucose to drive the metabolism a excess of the same can be hazardous to the body. This could lead to increased sugar level in blood and insulin resistance, triggering fat accumulation, and cellular inflammation.

Mumbai, November 12, 2011:

In the wake of a growing dissent over the introduction of Genetically Modified (GM) foods in India and the tabling of the Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India (BRAI) bill in the coming winter session of the parliament, two of the leading Indian food associations have declared themselves as GM-free. The Kerala Roller Flour Millers Association and the Kerala Bakers Association urged the Genetic Engineering Appraisal committee (GEAC), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to put an immediate ban on open air releases of GM food crops and deemed it essential that the policymakers safeguard the interest the food processing sector in India.
